Cartoons are made up of caricatures, at least the good ones are. So “imitation” is broadly exagerrated. What you are missing is the fact that the people being depicted in what you think is a racist manner are actually the heroes. Look at Speedy Gonzales — so stereotypically Mexican to the point that should offend in our day and age of PCism. But he outsmarts Sylvester EVERY time. I think satire is in play more than anything else. And satire almost always speaks for the underdog!!
